<title>Deschutes Black Butte XXI: $12.49</title>
<description>Good news, the Deschutes Black Butte XXI is in.
We have plenty to cover the existing pre-sells with some left over. The price was correct and it will not need to be adjusted. If you have not ordered any yet you can do so now and are assured delivery. We are working hard to get all of the orders boxed up.

==========================================

Here is what the brewery has to say about it......

A tribute to Black Butte Porter, the revolutionary Deschutes Brewery beer that has excited beer enthusiasts since its release in 1988. This special Reserve Series brew is an extreme version of Black Butte Porter that the Deschutes brewers enhanced with several pounds Bellatazza coffee, Theo&#8217;s Chocolate cocoa nibs and by aging parts in Stranahan&#8217;s whiskey barrels. These regional partners from Bend, Seattle and Denver, respectively, each provide quality artisan ingredients that give this commemorative beer a truly handcrafted complexity.

<title>Alaskan Smoked Porter 2008: $6.35</title>
<description>** This may be our last shipment of 2008 the supply is running thin. ***

Alaskan Smoked Porter is credited with helping revive the German rauchbier style, or smoke-flavored beers, in the United States. The most award-winning beer in the history of the Great American Beer Festival, Alaskan Smoked Porter has a dark, robust body and pronounced smoky flavor. This unique beer is produced in limited vintages each year and may be aged in the bottle much like fine wine. It ages very well and will continue to mellow and increase in complexity for some time. For those of you who love the hops, you will probably like it better young, for the rest of us aging it for a year or two smoothes and mellows it.

<title>Rodenbach Flemish Sour: $9.42</title>
<description>Ahhhh, the return of a classic. Deep mahogany in color with a small but persistent head. The aroma is oaky with a light sweetness and raspberry / cherry notes. The beer is light on the tongue with just a hint of caramel malt to play off of the lactic tartness and just a hint of damp earth. The finish is dry with minerals and fruit skin. Try this side by side with the [SKU:699176203317] and see which you like best.

<title>21st Amendment IPA: $1.80</title>
<description>This micro brew in a can pours a rich gold color with a tint of orange. The head is white and sudsy and settles to a thin layer. The aroma is floral in the hops and honey in malt. The flavor lightly malty up front with a grassy fruity hop and a 70 IBU bitter finish. This is a tasty, well-constructed IPA that truly has malt to hop balance. I know many beers say that but it is rarely true.

<title>Stone 13th Anniversary Ale: $6.65</title>
<description>This is an ultra red ale. It comes in at 9.5%, is a beep red color and the head is thin and tan. The aroma is almost completely of lime and pine hops from the double dry hopping. The flavor bitter up front with pine hop and toffee / cake malt. The finish is bitter and hoppy with long staying power. This is the kind of thing Stone is known for and it does not disappoint.

<title>Ninkasi Radiant Summer: $4.24</title>
<description>This wonderfully dry hopped amber pours a red copper color with a thin tight head. The beer has the intoxicating smell of a bale of Liberty hops and deep crystal malt. The flavor had a mid level bitterness from start to lingering finish. The body is creamy and the malt is light caramel and bread. Yet another striking brew from the folks at Ninkasi.

<title>Ninkasi Tricerahops Double IPA: $5.80</title>
<description>This 9.6% hop fest is a masterpiece of brewing. It pours light amber in color with a small cap of dense foam. The aroma is huge with orange hops and just a hint of malt sweetness. The flavor is also big on the orange hop profile but the malt brings in some chewy caramel without being overly sweet. The mouthfeel is smooth and has a medium body. This is one of my favorite double/Imperial IPAs.

<title>Ninkasi Total Domination IPA: $4.24</title>
<description>Hazy orange in color this hop driven brew pours with a small white head. The aroma is big and fruity, all hops with an orange, tropical and floral smell. The flavor has a fresh hoppy quality to it with orange rind, and some grapefruit along with some grassiness. There is a touch of caramel malt in there someplace but make no mistake, it is all about the hop.

Overall drinkability is high, great with food and quaffable all by itself.

<title>Rogue Sesquicentenial Portland: $6.11</title>
<description>I can think of no better way for Oregon to celebrate its 150th year as a state than to raise a pint of beer that was made especially for the purpose. This hoppy amber ale pours a copper in color with two fingers of head. The aroma is grassy and orange from the Willamette hops (only home grown hops for this Oregon brew). The flavor is bitter up front and moves to the balancing maltiness from the Munich barley. The finish is hoppy with citrus flavor and a parting bitterness.

<title>Red Branch Diabhal: $6.32</title>
<description>I know they bill this brew as a Belgian strong golden but make no mistake this is a golden braggot. If you don&#8217;t know, a &#8220;Braggot&#8221; is mead (honey wine) made with malt (tastes more like a mead than a beer) while a &#8220;Honey Beer&#8221; is a beer made with honey (tastes more like a beer than a mead). Trust me when I say that this is an excellent golden braggot (and I used to make gallons of the stuff in my younger days). The main thing is to set you expectations in line with drinking a mead not a beer.

The color is golden and a thin head that leave nice lace. The aroma is floral and orange from the honey, a bit of yeast and some oaty malt. The flavor has some sweetness to it but it is tart. For those of you who have had semi-dry to dry mead you know what I&#8217;m talking about. Mead is nautrally more acidic than beer and therefore will have a flavor that is more tart and that comes just from the fermentation of a lot of honey. Lightly malty with a crisp fruity component from the honey and finish that is sweet with a hint of yeast.

If you are interested in trying a more typical &#8220;Brown Braggot&#8221; try Dansk &#8220;Old Danish&#8221;

<title>Trade Route Infedel Lime IPA: $4.81</title>
<description>Don&#8217;t worry this is not a Miller Chill type of beer. This is a real IPA made with kaffir lime leaves added. The color is a rich golden. The head is thin. The aroma has a slight sweet malt, piney hop, and an herbal note from the leaves. The flavor is crisp with a easy bready malt, citrus/lime from the leaves and hops. It has a good hop bitterness and the leaves provide a unique bitterness all their own. Fun, different, and not at all like those cheap ass lime beers you see from the mega breweries.

<title>Deschutes Mirror Mirror: $10.99</title>
<description>From the brewery.......

Deschutes Brewery's - 2009 Reserve

Mirror Mirror, the flavorful brew that officially kicked off our Reserve Series back in 2006, is returning due to popular demand by both our brewers and our fans. Mirror Mirror is an inspired version of the brewery&#8217;s flagship, Mirror Pond Pale Ale, which has been doubled up to barley wine strength &#8211; yielding a rich malt base with hints of raisin and oak tinged with the slightest citrus hop aroma.

After its initial release we kept a small stash of Mirror Mirror in a hidden corner of the warehouse, sending a few kegs here and there to select festivals. We also tapped a few kegs for special occasions at both our Bend and Portland pubs. From this, beer enthusiasts discovered this unique beer, and a loyal following was born.

The caffeine from the mate&#8217; is just an extra added bonus.

<title>HUB IPA: $5.28</title>
<description>H.U.B. (Hopworks Urban Brewery) is one of Portland&#8217;s hottest breweries and I for one am stoked that they are now bottling. They have some of the most talented brewers around, a well-executed restaurant / brewpub and a reputation that can take them to the top. The first four out of the gate are some of their standard lineup, which they do very well. I hope to see some imperials, barleywines and Belgian styles in the future. By all means please check out the reviews at Beer Advocate

http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/16353

As they work their way into the bottle market the supply might be a little hit and miss. Please bare with us, it will be worth the wait.

Organic IPA pours a gold color with a large head. The aroma is hoppy with pine and pear with a touch of citrus. The flavor a light doughy malt with a resiny orange hop bitterness. The mouthfeel is full and the finish dry. A fine IPA by any ones standards.

<description>The Deluxe Organic Amber run a bit on the malty side compaired to most ambers. The color is copper orange and the aroma starts malty with a pine floral hop. When you start a sip of this 6.9% amber is lulls you into a malty malaise but finishes you with an ample hop kick.

It is more agressivly flavored than its German cousins but more flavor is not a bad thing al long as you are ready for it.

<description>Folks, this is one of my absolute favorite barley wines. This one is soooooo intense and malty. I would almost call this one an &#8220;Old Ale&#8221; instead of a &#8220;Barley Wine&#8221;. Totally malt driven. Malty, rich and smooth with some fruity tones and more alcohol that the flavor lets on. For More Info&#8230; http://www.midnightsunbrewing.com/beer_arcticDevil.php

<title>Deschutes Bond Street Hop Henge: $4.55</title>
<description>New label, awesome beer!! Ummmm, hop-elicious. Who cares what this thing looks like; the first thing to hit you as you pour this baby is the resinious, cirtusy pine aroma. It smells like walking into a hop storage cooler. But after that you will notice a big head comes rolling out but does not stay long. The color is deep amber with a copper tint. Now as the more volatile aromas boil off you can notice a fruity orange component as well a hint of crystal malt. The aroma is superb, in fact I am delaying trying a taste just so I can full appreciate its beautiful aroma. The flavors are all about the hops as well. Medium body with a bit grapefruit hop flavor and as that hop hit dies down the flavor moves into a fruity orange and woody hop m&#233;lange. Although this has a good hop bitterness it is not overpowering; the malting is just enough to balance the bitterness but not so much as to detract from this awesome hop flavor. For a hop driven beer to get my A+ two thumbs up rating, it has to be complex, balanced, and drinkable. Hop Henge is all that and more.

<title>Allagash Hugh Malone: $18.95</title>
<description>For those of you out there who are not total beer geeks, this beers name is a pun on humulone. Humulones are the orangey, soft resin in hops that is primarily responsible for the bittering properties of the hops. This Belgain style IPA pours a hazy orange with a dense sticky head. The flavor is fruity, lemony, and spicy like a good Belgian, with a pronounced woody, piney hop hit like a good IPA. Very limited, get it while you can.

<title>Hair of the Dog Blue Dot: $7.37</title>
<description>It's back, get while the getting is good!!! Hair of the Dog &#8220;Blue Dot Double India Pale Ale&#8221;. It pours a golden orange color, the head and carbonation are low but as this was just bottled I&#8217;m sure both will increase very soon. The nose is citrusy with tangerine and grapefruit with a touch of caramel. The flavor is HUGE and hoppy without being too bitter.

The drinkability is great and it should age well given that it has plenty of malt to make things interesting as the hops mellow with age. I plan to put a few down and see where it goes.

<title>Pike Old Bawdy 2007: $10.54</title>
<description>This is one hell of a barley wine. This beer pours a tawny brown with a good head. It has a malt and fruitiness like a Full Sail Old Broardhead but more hop presence than a Rogue Old Crustacean. You get a malty caramel hit up front with a light fruitiness then a powerfully bitter hop finish. It states a 90 IBU rating but this beer has more apparent bitterness than most 100 IBU beers I&#8217;ve tasted. The big hops and the 10% alcohol will allow this barley wine to age beautifully for 10 years plus.

This award winning barleywine should age for 5 years easy and only get better and smother through the years. This barleywine is now in my top three of all time. It has it all flavor, balance and than non-abrasive oomph that is the mark of well-made barleywine. Sure there are stronger, hoppier, or maltier ones but none pull it all together quite as well as Alaskan.

<description>This Black IPA / American Strong Ale is yet another fine brew from Stone. It pours black (really a very dark brown) with a medium head. The aroma is very hoppy with pine, and citrus rind, other scents include a light fruitiness and coffee from the dark malts. The flavor up front is of resinious hops then moves into the dark roasty malt. There is a bit of sweetness but the finish is of that Stone style bitterness.

<title>Moylans Hopsickle Imperial Ale: $10.55</title>
<description>If you ARE looking for a hop monster, this is it. This 9.2% behemoth is so loaded with hops that it makes your saliva glands kick into high gear. This gives the beer a weird (but very pleasant) juiciness you don&#8217;t usually find in a beer. It pours a deep copper with a large head. Its aroma is piney with a hint of grapefruit. The flavor is of tart fruity hops with the pine backing it up. There is malt in there someplace but for the life of me I can&#8217;t really pin it down due to the overwhelming assault from the hops.

<description>Kolsch is typically lighter even than Pilsner in color and is often around 5% ABV with a slightly malty, fairly soft palate. <title>Reissdorf Kolsch 330ml: $3.50</title>
<description>Kolsch is typically lighter even than Pilsner in color and is often around 5% ABV with a slightly malty, fairly soft palate. The finish is decidedly dry due to its high attenuation and firm hop character. The cleanness is a result of a fairly long, cold maturation of two to six weeks. Nice web site, too bad it is only in German: http://www.reissdorf.de/.

<title>Mikkeller Its Alright: $6.02</title>
<description>This wild Belgian ale pours a straw yellow with a light orange. The head is about 1.5 fingers high and settles quick. The aroma is tart and funky with berry, toast and flowery hops. The flavor has a little barn yard, a little horse, a little woody earth with some fragrant hops of flower and grass and a peppery finish.

<title>Huvila Artic Circle Ale: $8.96</title>
<description>This strong ale with juniper pours a medium brown with an amber tint. The head starts at two finger and falls to a thin film. The aroma is slightly sweet with brown malts and chocolate. The flavor has a toffee toasty sweet, a rye piquant, and a juniper woodiness. The juniper that is used is twigs and not berries. That means that it does not taste like gin but takes on a woody mellow earthy like tone. It is a good balance of sweet malt and sharp rye and juniper with a low hop bitterness.

<title>Huvila ESB: $7.18</title>
<description>I&#8217;ll have to admit I am a big fan of well made ESB. Many (if not all) of the ESBs we get here in the Northwest are way over hopped. Many of the English ESB we get are too mild but this Finnish version has it all going on. Light maltiness, fruity yeast ester, and just enough bitterness to balance.

<description>Copper in color with some floating sediment. The head is about 1.5 inches tall with some decent staying power. <description>Not too sure what a Shizuka Natsumikan fruit is but it makes for a fine beer. A copper amber color with a thin head. The aroma is sweet golden malt with a citrus peel undertone. The flavor is fruity with a mild grapefruit, light hop bitterness and a pale malt sweetness. Don&#8217;t think that the grapefruit flavor is like a cascade hop, it is much milder and more straight up fruity.

<description>Similar in color as the extra, it pours a reddish brown. Bready and sweet upfront it has a plum like fruitiness and a lightly vinous finish. Some compare this to a Belgian double but I do not think that is fair. Brunes tend to be drier in character and not so heavy on the caramels and toffee tones. This is an excellent example.

<description>This 100 IBU 13% &#8220;Royal&#8221; stout pours inky black with a thin but tight tan head. The aroma is of dark fruit (plum and fig) with espresso and hint of smoky wood. The flavor is heavy roasted malts, those dark fruits, a little molasses with an earthy woody finish. The big body and even bigger alcohol makes this beer a slow sipper but it is enjoyable from first sip to last.

<title>Dansk Old Danish Braggot: $16.21</title>
<description>Braggot is an old, rather obscure style of brew. It is one that I have made at home for many years. It is a sumptuous mix of malted barley and honey. I know many of you are asking how this differs from a &#8220;Honey Beer&#8221; but the profile is very different. Honey beers are usually a golden or pale ale with honey added, a braggot starts with a malt bill that is high in the brown, caramel, and toffee range, hops that are low or completely absent and when you get a good braggot (like this one) the honey is well fermented and it tastes more like a mead than raw honey. Dansk pulls it all together with a hit of ginger into a brew that is sweet, strong and smooth without being sugary or insipid. This braggot rates an a+ in my book.

<description>This amazing beer was created the day we commemorated the 7th anniversary of the Brasserie des Franches-Montagnes. The opening days, held every year on the first Saturday of November, are the opportunity for the brewer to devise a new recipe.
This one-off impressed B. United International Inc.'s boss so much that he asked for it to be brewed again just for you lot across the Pond. It is brewed using a combination of 6 aroma hop varieties, which give it a moderate bitterness and a complex bouquet evolving over time. Yes, because Cuvee Du 7eme will improve over time, you should stash it away in a cellar.

<title>Dogfish Head Palo Santo Marron: $4.25</title>
<description>This 12% wood aged brown ale pours a chocolate brown color with mahogany edges and a stick light brown head that falls to thin layer. The aroma is fig/prune with hints of wood and vanilla. The flavor is lightly roasty with chocolate, dark fruit, vanilla and a small earthy wood. I could see this beer aging well into the 5 to 10 year range. There are not many beers out there that I can say that about but this has the power, complexity and the aggressive malt profile that will stand the test of time. If you have the fortitude, wax dip a few of these and forget about them for 5 or 6 years, and see if I&#8217;m right. I know that&#8217;s what I plan to do. Below is the description from Dogfish Head&#8230;..

An unfiltered, unfettered, unprecedented brown ale aged in handmade wooden brewing vessels. The caramel and vanilla complexity unique to this beer comes from the exotic Paraguayan Palo Santo wood from which these tanks were crafted. Palo Santo means &quot;holy tree&quot; and it's wood has been used in South American wine-making communities.

This beer is a 12% abv, highly roasty, and malty brown ale aged on the Palo Santo wood.

It is brewed with two-row Harrington pale, carmel, Munich, wheat and German Dunkel malt. Bayern Killarney has an alc. content of 5.7% alc. vol. (14.2% Plato o.g.)

<title>Bayern St. Wilbur: $1.36</title>
<description>- From the Brewery -

There's nothing better than Bayern's unfiltered Hefeweizen. This Bavarian Hefeweizen (&quot;hefe&quot; means yeast), combines pure wheat flavor with Bayern's own strain of yeast.

Bayern's Hefeweizen is hopped moderately with Hallertauer Perle (Germany), the alcohol content is 5.1% alc./volume (13.1 degrees Plato o.g.). We use malted wheat, two-row Harringtion Pale and carmel malt. Hefeweizen was invented in Bavaria and Bayern Brewing's Hefeweizen is one of the very few that is actually brewed as it is in Bavaria and by a Bavarian Brewmaster. So if you are interested in this style of beer, try this one first and see how the other ones compare to the original.

At Bayern Brewing we use the recipe of the old &quot;Brauerei zum Schiff&quot; in Kaufbeuren, Germany, a brewery 60 miles southwest of Munich established in 1540. J&#252;rgen Kn&#246;ller, the owner of Bayern Brewing, apprenticed in this brewery from 1978 to 1981 and brought this original recipe to Missoula in 1987.

<title>Bayern Dancing Trout: $1.36</title>
<description>-From the Brewery-

Dancing Trout Ale is a German Wheat Ale, the filtered version of a true Bavarian Hefeweizen. In Bavaria this beer would be called a Kristall-Weizen (Crystal-Wheat) because of its clarity. Dancing Trout Ale is brewed with malted wheat, pale, carmel malt, and hopped with Cascade hops from Yakima, Washinton. Unlike its British and American counterparts, Dancing Trout Ale is brewed in the Bavarian tradition. You are enjoying a beer that has been aged a minimum of 28 days, versus 7-10 days for the average ale. Dancing Trout Ale is not too strong in alcohol (5.4% by volume) moderately hopped and light in color. Unlike many ales, Dancing Trout Ale is mild with no bitter aftertaste! We dedicate this latest addition to our Bayern familiy of quality German beers to helping preserve Montana's trout habitat, one beer at a time.

<title>Bayern Pilsner: $1.35</title>
<description>The term &quot;pilsener&quot; is widely used to describe a number of beers available on the market. According to German criteria for a true pilsener, however, the vast majority of them would be unrecognizable as such. By this definition, a pilsener is a lager beer with a light golden color (5-8 color units by European Brewers' Convention standards), a specific gravity in the 11.5-12.5% Plato range, and a hops content of at least 28 EBUs (European Bitter Units). Most so-called domestic &quot;pilseners&quot; fall far short in these categories; Bayern Pilsener easily meets all three (6 color units, 12% Plato, 34 EBUs).

What does all this technical jargon mean? It means you have purchased one of the very few authenic pilseners brewed in America. Reward yourself by enjoying this beer the way it was meant to be served: pour your cold Bayern Pilsener, in two or three slow steps, into the center of your glass (a fluted or &quot;tulip&quot; glass works best). The thick creamy head (the German term for this is &quot;crown&quot;) and you have just created the mark of a classic Bavarian pilsener. It is functional, too - the crown holds finely distributed natural carbonation inside the glass and acts as a shelter for this beer's distintive, hoppy flavor..

<title>Full Sail SlipKnot IPA: $3.87</title>
<description>This years Slipknot lives up to its moniker of Imperial IPA and then some. It pours golden in color with a tint of copper. The brew was ampped up to 80 IBUs with Warrior, Simcoe, Crystal and Centennial hops. This gives is a powerful bitterness and a citrus/fruity hop flavor. Although they put in some Crystal and Munich malts into it to add some depth I can not say that is a truly BALANCED brew, but if you are a hophead of the highest order you will truly appreciate the skill and hard work John Harris put in to create this beauty.

<title>Rogue Double Dead Guy: $11.29</title>
<description>This potent beer of the dead pours a solid amber with a hint of orange. The head is tall beige and sudsy. The aroma is sweet and malty with caramel and honey tones. The hops come across mainly floral with a touch of fruity apricot. The flavor is smooth despite the 9% and the malt come through as toffee with a hint of nuts and chocolate. The hops are present with some citrus peel and a touch of spice. There is a speck of alcohol twinge at the end but it is not hot and only help dry out the big malt character. Definitely an &#8220;A&#8221; level brew from the masters at Rogue.

Here is some info about the casks it was aged in. Willoughby's Finest Reserve Port [to mature JW Lees Harvest Ale] Specially blended for Willoughby's by Peter Symington, head winemaker at the Symington Family Port Companies, owners of Dow's, Graham's, Warre's and other famous Port shipping houses. This is a &quot;Reserve&quot; quality Port, not of a single vintage but of a superior blend, aged for up to 5 years in wood as opposed to the 2 or 3 years usually allowed for Ruby. It is full bodied, sweet and luscious, reminiscent of the style known in the 19th century as &quot;Blackstrap&quot;.

<title>Golden Valley Tannen Bomb: $1.62</title>
<description>Now to me, this is what winter beers are all about. Out of all the winter beers I look forward to this one the most. It has a big malty fruity flavor that just does it for me. Not too hoppy, a light bitterness to finish well but nothing overpowering. The 8% alcohol is smooth but will warm the cockles of your heart. Best served only slightly chilled so as to bring out the smooth malt and play that against the fruity character. I have to give props to Golden Valley for producing a winter beer like no other.

<description>Pannepot is a wonderfully spiced, 10% dark Belgian brew that is everything I expect out of an exceptional Belgian and more. Dark brown in color this beer pours with a massive meringue like head. Sweet fruity aromas that come across fig, pear with spicy notes of cinnamon and a whiff of licorice. The flavor is malty with a touch of sweetness; fig is a major flavor with brown sugar, and hints of chocolate and clove. Great creamy mouth feel and the 10% does not get in the way. A+

<title>JW Lees Harvest Sherry 2007: $9.99</title>
<description>J.W.Lees Vintage Harvest Ale is only brewed once a year for release on December 1 of each year. It is a Limited Edition Vintage to celebrate the first brew from each year's harvest of barley and hops. Only the first delivery of the year's classic barley malt 'Maris Otter' and the classic hop variety 'Goldings' from East Kent is therefore used.
Fermentation is induced by J.W.Lees 'distinctive three-strain top-fermenting yeast. J.W.Lees Vintage Harvest Ale reaches 11.5 % alc./vol. once completely attenuated with a natural fermentation in open copper lined fermenting vessels that were commissioned in 1876 when the brew house was refurbished [J.W.Lees has been brewing at Greengate Brewery in Middleton Junction for six generations since 1828].
Pale in color it has a warm, estery aroma, a good deal of malty flavors on the palate, and a lot of hoppy dryness in the finish.

Here is some info about the casks it was aged in. Willoughby's Rayoso Cream Sherry [to mature JW Lees Harvest Ale] From Emilio Hidalgo in Jerez, this wine is drawn from their 8 year old Oloroso solera, and blended with PX and Moscatel to give the wine a rich, full bodied, sweet character without being cloying. Compared with the UK's leading brand of Cream, Harvey's Bristol Cream, Rayoso is darker, sweeter, fuller and deeper, with a long raisin finish.

<title>Avery The Kaiser: $9.12</title>
<description>Billed as an Imperial Oktoberfest, I was initially skeptical about it. I figured they would just get the alcohol higher and over hop it but that was just not the case. They did a fine job of pulling off an 9.3% Oktoberfest. A copper beauty that poured with a big head. The malt was big up front with a touch of fruitiness and the flavor moved on to an ample but not over done spicy noble hop character. The body was a little big for an Okt. but its not that surprising considering the amount of malt it takes to get to 9%. The finish is very clean as any good lager should be. A+

The valerian they have added gives it a dusty earth quality at the finish that makes it like nothing you have had before.

<title>Harvistoun Ola Dubh 12 Year: $7.92</title>
<description>Ola Dubh (or &#8216;Black Oil&#8217;) is a collaboration between Harviestoun Brewery and Highland Park. It is based on Harviestoun&#8217;s award-winning Old Engine Oil. With more than a stylistic nod to the classic Imperial Porters (and Stouts) of the nineteenth century, this deliciously rich, dark, 8% a.b.v. beer is the first ale to be aged in malt whisky casks from a named distillery and, with traceable casks and numbered bottles with genuine provenance. This one being aged in Highland Park &#8220;12 Year Old&#8221; casks.

Retaining the appearance of used motor oil from which the beer gets its name, it is deep dark brown, dense and oily. On the nose there are notes of true oil and cocoa as well as faint smoke and heathery peat from the whisky casks. Although lighter in body that its appearance suggests, Ola Dubh is pithy, oily, salty and bitter on the palate. The (flavor) is exceptional; burnt and bitter notes with an interplay of late hop characters, orange oil, fruity tartness and then delicate, fragrant smoke.

<description>(Excerpts from importer)
Ingredients: Pale malt, caramel malt, Pilsner malt, Sapa of Cannonau {Boiled wort of Cannonau red wine grapes}, white candi sugar, orange peel, Cascasde, Kent Golding
Alc/vol: 10.0%

Notes from Lorenzo Dabove: &#8220;Our new skillful craft brewers, without an old tradition to follow, are totally free to brew experimental beers using unusual ingredients often strictly linked to their area. This is the case of young Sardinian engineer Nicola Perra who for this extraordinary BB10 uses even sapa (boiled wort) of a renowned local wine called Cannonau.

A natural &#8220;vinosity&#8221; accompanies us along the trip, from the warm and sumptuos scent of caramel, cocoa, dried plum, morello cherry and &#8220;strawberry&#8221; grapes to the palate rich of complex avors such as caramel, chocolate, liquorice, and plums with notes of sweet dried fruits such as gs and sultana. A typical winter warmer to enjoy before going to sleep but it could be perfect with famous piedmontese boiled meats, with a savory Sardinian sheep&#8217;s cheese or with a chocolate or ricotta dessert.&#8221;

Here is an excerpt from the Shelton Brothers Import site.
-------------------
N&#248;rrebro Bryghus Launches Old Odense Ale &#8211; A Unique Beer Created in a Unique Way!

It is with great pride and pleasure that N&#248;rrebro Bryghus hereby announces that Old Odense Ale &#8211; a truly unique, challenging and charming beer, created as a joint brewing project between Sam Calagione of Dogfish Head and N&#248;rrebro Bryghus &#8211; is now available through selected outlets in the US.

The Beer

Old Odense Ale is a 7.5 ABV beer that defies any known beer style or category. On the label we describe it as &#8220;Ale brewed with maple syrup and herbs&#8221;. But this says precious little about this bright and copper coloured beer with a very sparse and fragile head. The aroma is extremely complex and spicy, with notes of anis, tobacco, brettanomyces, leather and dried fruits. The body is rich and with a delicate sweetness that balances the sour tartness, making it far more accessible than a Belgian lambic, which would be the only well known style to which one could possibly compare Old Odense Ale.

The Creation

Following an initial contact between Sam Calagione and us at N&#248;rrebro Bryghus, we agreed that Sam would visit N&#248;rrebro Bryghus and do a guest brew in June 2007, and when we started discussing which beer to brew, Sam was quite adamant that it be an old, traditional Danish beer style. We therefore unearthed the obscure &#8216;Odense Old Style Ale&#8217; web page with a translation of a 15th century pre-hop era gruit ale recipe from the town of Odense, and the process of converting this into something that might be brewed on a modern brewing system commenced. Not an easy task, which this list of ingredients might illustrate: Pale and dark barley malt, oats, fine syrup (in our translation: maple syrup form Sam&#8217;s dad&#8217;s farm in Massachusetts), smoked dark syrup, fir branches and fir bark, wood sage, hyssop, blackthorn berries, woodruff and star spice.

The actual brewing of this beer was as fun as it was crazy and nerve-racking &#8211; stuff for an entire article (that actually has been written, but is yet to be published). Suffice to say here, that the amazing souring of the beer, that happened within 48 hours of fermentation, must be due to the potent &#8216;herbal juice&#8217; hand squeezed by our honoured guest brewer from the herbs in the 7 huge gauze bags, and added to the wort kettle during the boil.

How do I get hold of &#8216;Old Odense Ale&#8217;?

Old Odense Ale is available in the US through our importer, Shelton Brothers of Belchertown, MA (www.sheltonbrothers.com). And don&#8217;t worry &#8211; the FDA has received samples for analysis for toxic substances (!) and has given us the green light to sell the beer in the US.

Who and what is N&#248;rrebro Bryghus?

In September 2003 N&#248;rrebro Bryghus opened its combined brewery, restaurant and bar in a former metal workshop close to downtown Copenhagen. The mission from day one was to contribute to a new evolution and expansion of the Danish beer culture. The N&#248;rrebro Bryghus concept is based on creating the total experience &#8211; great beers, modern beer cuisine, excellent service in a unique ambience surrounded by award winning design and contemporary architecture.

As it is the vision of N&#248;rrebro Bryghus to supply quality beer to any venue where the customers expect the very best in craft beer, we launched our beers on bottles and kegs in 2006. Export began in 2007 with Sweden, Finland and the USA as the first markets importing N&#248;rrebro Bryghus beers. As the first Danish craft brewery, N&#248;rrebro Bryghus won two bronze medals at the 2008 World Beer Cup&#174; in San Diego.

<description>This Danish barley wine style ale pours a rich brown with a tint of red. The head is thin but that is to be expected from the low carbonation. The aromas are of dark fruit (fig, plum) chocolate and sweet malt. The flavor comes across as toffee and caramel with ripe fruit and toasty malt. The full and heavy mouth feel makes for a fine creamy sipping brew and that is backed up by it being 12.5%.

<title>Speakeasy White Lightning: $1.78</title>
<description>This beer is an American take on the Belgian Wit style. Golden in color with a fizzy head this beer has the orange coriander spiciness but without the free floating yeast (read filtered) or the cloudy unmalted wheat. What Kristal Weisse is to a Hefe Weisse; White Lighting is to a Wit. That is, all of the flavors are there and with it being filtered it makes the body light and the finish crisper and more refreshing. Not a classic Wit but it is even more refreshing on these warm summer days.

<title>Stone 12th Anniversary Ale: $7.55</title>
<description>We are now taking order for the Stone 12th Anniversary Ale. We should have it in shop on the 9th. Here is what the brewery has to say about it.

&#8220;Our Anniversary Ale this year stems from 2 pilot beers that were brewed by members of Team Stone. The first was Jeremy Moynier&#8217;s incredibly delicious Oatmeal Stout, and the second was Jake Ratzke&#8217;s amazing homebrewed Imperial Stout that had authentic Oaxacan chocolate added to the boil. We loved both beers so much that we decided to combine the recipes to make this year&#8217;s Anniversary offering: Stone 12th Anniversary Bitter Chocolate Oatmeal Stout. This beer pours deep black with a rich brown head of foam. The aroma is dominated by roast malt and cocoa. Upon tasting, the cocoa (we used unsweetened, unprocessed cacao sourced through our friends at Chuao Chocolatier) really comes through with a deep chocolate flavor and a long lasting bitter finish. The roasted grains used add coffee and licorice accents. It is a thick beer, but not sweet, with the addition of oatmeal in the mash providing a rich, silky mouthfeel that adds to the creamy texture.&#8221;

<title>Brew Dog Hardcore IPA: $11.59</title>
<description>I totally dig this beer. If you think about what you would expect from a Scottish Imperial IPA this beer hits the mark. Ok, when I think of Scottish beer I think of a beer that is malty. This beer is that, it has plenty of sweet pale malt to go along with its respectable hop quantity that is required for an IPA. The hops present themselves in an orange and grassy aroma and flavor. With higher gravity Scottish beers you tend to find some amount of diacetyl. This is a yeast product that imparts a buttery/butterscotch flavor. Now this is not normally found in IPAs but it does make for an enjoyable, unique flavor profile. The other thing I expect out of a Scottish beer is fairly low hop bitterness. That is not to say that Hard Core has low hop bitterness because it would not be an imperial IPA if it had. What I am saying is that the 65 to 75 IBUs balances well with the malt but is not the tongue scrapingly 90+ you find in most American Imperial IPAs. Even if you are a total hophead I think if you honestly evaluate the sensory experience that Hard Core provides, you will come to enjoy it as much as I have.

<title>Rogue XS Brewers Ale 2008: $21.41</title>
<description>AKA &quot;Brew Dawg&quot;

This excellent brown/orange brew has it all going on; more than it fair share of hops with plenty of malt to go with it and a respectable alcohol content that is well masked by the high flavor profile. It&#8217;s sort of an &#8220;Arrogant Bastard&#8221; on steroids. This 9%er pours with a small tight head. It has plenty of Melanoidin and high lovabond crystal malts along with Simco and Centennial hops. The aroma is a mix of orange, cake and caramel. The flavor has a sweet malty base but it&#8217;s the 106 IBU hops that dominate the profile. With grassy orange flavor notes and a powerful bitterness at the end, the finish is quite dry

The flavor starts off honey sweet then the acidity comes in to balance it out it moves to those wonderful subtle buckwheat tones and finishes with just a hint of mint. <title>Dieu du Ciel Corne du Diablo: $4.76</title>
<description>This IPA pours an amber / orange color with a thick white head. The aroma is of fruity and floral hops along with a touch of sweet malt and nut. The flavor starts appropriately bitter with fruity and citrus hop notes. The malt does not get in the way of the hops and comes through with a hint of caramel and nut. It is a rock solid IPA that is notched above the standard Cascade fest (if you know what I mean).

<title>Klein Erik de Noorman: $14.90</title>
<description>Barleywine Dutch style. It pours amber with golden edges. The head is big with a medium persistence. The smell is fresh with a yeasty grape, biscuit malt and grass hop. The flavor has a light toffee sweet malt along with some bread. The hop flavor is low but the yeast fruitiness comes though in the way of orange, apple and a light coriander. Although not the darker brown style of barleywine we all might be used to, this fruity strong import is quite a treat.

<title>Innstadt Neues Helles: $4.02</title>
<description>Light straw in color with a with a tight creamy head. The aroma is mostly of pale malt. Lightly sweet with a fresh noble hop showing. This is a great Helles and what makes a great Helles is the perfect balance of very subtle flavors of malt and hops. No matter what any brewer / marketing dolt does there will never be an imperial Helles it is a contradiction in term and style. The Helles style by definition has a low flavor threshold so it should not be marked down for not being bold or assertive but rather it should be judged for its light, clean lager body and subtle interplay between flavors.

<description>This chokeberry melomel pours a light golden color. The aroma is vinous and tart. The body is light and the flavor is tart and fruity kind of cherry raspberry mix. The chokeberries give it a wonderfully unique flavor and the light body is unlike all of the other Polish meads I have tried.

<description>Dark amber / brown color with a bubbly medium head. Roasty malts in the aroma with a light fruitiness and a bit of earthiness. The flavor is nutty with an easy malt sweetness. <title>Snow Beauty Nigori: $9.43</title>
<description>This unfiltered sake pours very opaque milk-like white. The aroma is earthy and creamy with a slight tartness. The texture has a fine granular about it. The flavor starts with a light tartness. The creamy/smooth/grainy flavors come forward but die back leaving the tartness. The tartness does dissapear after about 5 seconds leaving a very clean finish. The tart, creamy, tart flavor profile is fun and tasty.

<title>Jolly Pumpkin Maracaibo Especial: $14.73</title>
<description>This &#8220;Special Brown Ale&#8221; comes in a 7.5% and is made with cacao nibs and spices. Being a sour Belgian style it may not be for everyone. But for those of us who do enjoy a tart crisp brew this is pretty neat. The aroma is tart with fruity cinnamon notes. It does have a medium body to it but the tartness quickly overcomes it and lifts it off your tongue. There is a sweetness in there along with a &#8220;very ripe fruit&#8221; flavor, banana, spices and light chocolate.

<title>Momokawa Ruby: $13.48</title>
<description>With a SMV rating of zero, this sake wedges itself right in between sweet and dry. Admittedly this one is sweeter than most other Junmai Gingos I have tried. <title>Lurgashall Tower Of London: $30.75</title>
<description>Ok I&#8217;ll admit it, this is the kind of stuff I still get really excited about. Get ready for this, it is mead fortified with scotch. A wonderfully semi sweet mead mixed with a plumy, low (no) peat scotch. The aroma is rather perfumey, kind of lavender / baby powder along with the big honey and fruity smells. The flavor is honey up front with plum and apricot next and then moves into woody tones and has a slightly tannic finish. It may be 20% alcohol but you would never know it. I served it chilled and it had NO heat to it at all. Only rich honey fruit tones and went down all too easy.

<description>This beer is one of my all time favorites. This rich smooth sweet brown Belgian rankes up there with Rochfort 10, Chimay Grand Reserve, and a fresh Zatte Bie. Dark brown in color this beers aroma is caramel, figs with a lightly tart fruit. The flavor is prune, caramel, raisin, figs, and cinnamon. Smooth, rich and sweet and at 11% it is kind of like the port wine of beers.

<title>Weihenstephaner Dunkel: $2.99</title>
<description>IMHO this is the best Dunkel Weiss there is. The style is a fine balancing act that has the tart wheat on one side and the brown darker malts on the other. You want to add complexity and richer flavors with the brown malts but you do not want them to come across as sweet or to overpower the wheat. This beer does all that. It is a fine mix with a strong showing from the wheat, brown bread and toffee from the brown malts and the ever presence of the banana ester.

<title>Ridgeway Reindeers Revolt: $5.30</title>
<description>This English Christmas beer is a medium dark amber orange color with a average head that settles to a thin layer. The aroma is of lightly toasted brown malts and sweet plumb and a touch of grassy hop. The flavor is sweeter up front with the plum fruitiness and light caramel. The finish is well into the bitter range that balances well. And the story is of a beer-drinking reindeer complaining about his overweight slave driver who he hauls all over the world in the snow and muck.

<title>Dick's Silk Lady: $1.59</title>
<description>Dick&#8217;s version of a Belgain Pale, it pours a light hazy orange with a dense lacey head. The aroma is fruity with pear, apple, and a little spice. The flavor is sweet and fruity with a touch of pepper and more hops than most Belgian Pales. A good domestic version of the style with just enough hops to make it interesting.

<title>Mikkeller Big Worse: $10.67</title>
<description>Mikkeller&#8217;s 12% barley wine is an excellent product that straddles &#8220;drinkable now&#8221; and &#8220;excellent aging potential&#8221; well. Most of us beer geeks and handle (and enjoy) the big hops you tend to find in young American barley wines (&#8220;Big Foot&#8221;, &#8220;Old Crustacean&#8221;, &#8220;Old Horizontal&#8221;) but make no mistake, the Danish brew has that plus a big sweet malt bill that is chewy and tasty. I served it at about 60 degrees and the fig, date, caramel and chocolate come screaming through. The hops do their part at the end to calm things down and ready you for another sip. Yes there is a spicy (but not hot) alcohol kick but maybe that will age out. This one will age 5 easy maybe into the 7 to 10 range. The cage and cork (synthetic not natural) should slow oxidation while it matures over the long haul.

<title>Flying Dog Double Dog: $2.30</title>
<description>Is this an Imperial IPA or is it a pale Barley Wine???? Well to be honest I do not know (or care). At 10.5% and 85 IBUs it is strong, bitter and very tasty. It pours a pale amber brown with a tight head that sticks around for a while. The aroma is heavy pale malts with a pine hop and a touch of apple. It has a medium to heavy body that is cut through with a stiff hop bitterness. The flavor although heavy on the hops and bitterness one can not ignore the big malt that weaves its way around all of the hop components. Even at 85 IBUs this level of malt can not be ignored. This is a good thing as it does provide some balance and what I see (taste) as a great aging potential. Enjoy this one now and for years to come out of the cellar

With the big clove spiciness and fruity esters to match. This is a strong chewy beer that is not to be missed.

<title>BFM La Meule: $7.25</title>
<description>BFM (That&#8217;s Brasserie des Franches-Montagnes) is a Swiss company that puts out some real gems. This sage infused golden does not disappoint. It pours a straw yellow that has some haze. The aroma is of intense pale malt, sage, and a very lemony hop. The flavor may have some pale malt in it but it is the sage and lemon that come on quick and stay until the very end that fades into a hop bitterness. Herby, lemony sharp and hop bitter, not your typical beer and not everyone may like it but I think it is brilliant.

<description>Oooh, I have enjoyed this perennial dessert Christmas beer as the capper to many a fine evenings. Deep amber / ruby in color this 12% beauty is well carbonated but has little in the way of a lasting head. Caramel and purple plum with dark candy sugar in the aroma. The flavor up front is the perfect contrast to the sumptuous aroma, it comes on strong with an alcohol twinge that instantly disappears into a brown sugar, raisin and plum flavor that lingers a while. Classic!!!

<title>Birrificio Scires: $23.67</title>
<description>This dark cherry ale is barrel aged and blended, young with old. Cloudy dark red with tons for carbonation that tries to creep out of the bottle when opened. The aroma is heavy cherry with a tart lactic kick. The flavor has just a short brown malt flavor that is quickly overrun by cherry, wood, and that tart lactic finish. The body is light but it is not that surprising considering it is quite dry. If you are looking for a tart dry cherry brew that is not as funky as most lambics but still has plenty of depth and character this one is for you.

<title>Haand Norse Porter: $9.38</title>
<description>Big and black with a prodigious tan head. The aroma is of dark chocolate, black malt and wood. The flavor is of coffee, bitter chocolate and has a touch of smokiness. Bolder than an English porter, not as hoppy as an American but not as sweet as a Baltic. I might call it an imperial porter due to its aggressive flavor but the average 6% would keep it from that category IMHO. Imperial or not this is one tasty porter.

<title>Poperings Hommel Ale: $9.44</title>
<description>Although there are more and more IPAs out of Belgium, to me there is a qualitative difference between those and the Hommel ale. The new IPAs seem to be American inspired because the hop profile tends to be more on the heavy bitter with a more grassy citrus flavor. I do not know this for a fact but I would bet that the copious amount of hops it this beer come from the Poperinge area and has more of a flowery, resiny, almost cumin like flavor. To me this is a Belgian original that might just turn the head of the most jaded hophead.

<description>This beautiful ruby red cider is slightly effervescent with an easy prickle on the tongue. The aroma is a perfumy mix of apple and cranberry. The flavors blend well and have a nice balance between the apple and cranberry. Enough of each to complement each other without dominating. It is refreshing cold but sumptuous mulled hot with just a touch of clove and some cinnamon.

<description>This Oktoberfest pours a dark copper with little head. The aroma is of fruity hop, biscuit and amber malts. The flavors start with the fruity hop (tangerine???) then moves to light crystal malt character that is replaced by an easy hop bitterness that finishes dry. Effortless drinkability with plenty of flavor.

<title>Watari Bune: $16.78</title>
<description>This sake is classified as a Junmai, Ginjo 55 and is clearly stated on the label. Here is what that means. Ginjo is a government regulated term that denotes a sake as premium due to how the rice is milled. For a sake to be of Ginjo classification they must mill away at least 40% of the outer rice kernel. This mills off the proteins, fats, and amino acids that can produce unwanted flavors. The 55 stated on this sake means that the rice has had 45% milled off leaving 55%. The term Junmai means that this sake has not been fortified with distilled alcohol (more on that later). Enough terms, let&#8217;s get onto the review.

Watari Bune pours still and the palest yellow. The aroma is spicy with an earthy licorice (true licorice not the anise you find in cadies) and a light fruity (banana) whiff at the end. The flavor has a very light acidity up front, a spicy warming mid pallet (16%) in which the licorice comes through. As the acidity and spiciness start to fade in the finish you are left with a mellow smoothness left on the tongue. Most Ginjo is best served chilled like a white wine (not cold) and some people prefer room temp.

<title>Gekkeikan Zipang: $6.73</title>
<description>Zipang is a 7% sparkling sake that is a light and best served chilled. I drink Zipang like I would drink a nice Belgian blond or an American golden ale, that is I drink it when I want something flavorful but not too aggressive as well as something not too strong (sake can get into 18%+). Zipang pours clear and effervescent, the aroma is slightly earthy, the flavor is lemony up front with an easy slight coconut like finish. This is a good one to try if you have never had Sake.

<title>Glazen Toren Saison: $13.17</title>
<description>This Belgian Saison style brew pours a deep gold with a big durable head that laces well. The aromas are of powdery earth, with a touch of straw and fruitiness of pear and apricot. The flavor is lemony, grassy with orange and black pepper. The high carbonation makes it prickly and airy. Great traditional Saison flavors but a modern (7.5%) alcohol level.

The flavor malty with a touch of candy sugar, tart in its fruitiness with apple and lemon and pleasant herbal hop.

<title>Elsa Addis Tej Mild: $11.25</title>
<description>The Elsa &#8220;Mild&#8221; is an Ethiopian style sweet mead (but not as sweet as the &#8220;Addis Sweet&#8221;) that is made with hops. It pours a light straw yellow and makes many thin slow moving legs. The aroma is honey sweet with a hint of grass and pleasing spice. The flavor is sweet with a light cinnamon and black pepper tone. The finish comes on with a light acidity and finishes with a balance of tart acidity and honey sweet. The hops do not come on as bitter because they are not boiled (like in a beer) but instead provide the grassy spicy tones that set this mead apart.

<title>St Peters IPA: $4.76</title>
<description>This is an excellent ENGLISH style IPA; its not Northwest, not even US style but straight up English style IPA. The beer pours amber orange in color with a medium head. The aroma is big on the flowery hop and has a toffee malt nose. The flavor has a flowery grassy hop flavor up front, and a treacle and toffee malt flavor. The bitterness is not HUGE but it does overpower the malt flavor and it lingers quite well.

<title>Urthel Samaranth 750ml: $12.43</title>
<description>Considered a quadruple by many, this beer pours a pure copper color. The head starts well but settles thin. The aroma is peach fruity with a whiff of alcohol and at 11% that is not surprising. The flavor is cherries dipped in caramel with a cinnamon spice at the finish. You do need to serve this one a little cooler than most Belgians as the 11% does tend to heat up as it warms but this one has a lot of power in flavor as well as alcohol.

<description>Deep gold in color with a huge rocky head. The aroma is honey and floral up front with lemony ctrus peel. The flavor is tart with a good hop showing in the way of floral and resin flavors. The orange and coriander are there which is good considering that they are billing this as an imperial Wit. Light mouthfeel and creamy texture make for an easy beer with tons of flavor.

<description>I knew I would love this one as soon as I took my first whiff. This dark Belgian pours a deep brown color with an amber tint. The head is exactly what you want out of a good Belgian that is big thick and persistent. The aroma is sweet and big with a fig and dark cherry quality with a bit of woodiness at the end. The high carbonation gives it a pillowy mouth feel but a prickly finish. The beer is sweet but not heavy or sticky. The flavor is of dark cherry with a light chocolate and licorice finish. Now this is my kind of beer!!!

<title>Haand Norwegian Wood: $9.33</title>
<description>This Norwegian gruit (non hopped) ale has a powerful aroma of smoke and juniper. It pours an amber brown color with a very big head. <title>Mountain Meadows Agave Mead: $14.62</title>
<description>Mountain Meadows makes very high quality meads, and does a superb job of balancing the honey character in the mead with the other flavors they add. The one thing I like about their product line is the fact that they not only have a wide selection of flavors but also have a wide selection of sweetness levels. From a semi-dry 1.5% residual sugar to a sweet 9%. This range means that they have a mead for just about every palate.
This is a unique semi-dry mead made with blue agave nectar. The Agave cactus is what they make tequila out of. The flavor is not over done and has just a light smokeyt hint at the end. It is one of my personal favs, very well done and must try.

<title>Blaugies La Moneuse Special Winter: $7.99</title>
<description>A very festive and hardy holiday &#8216;saison&#8217; home-made at Belgium&#8217;s smallest family brewery. Extra rich for the holiday season, at 8% alcohol by volume. Rated 8&#8217;s and 9&#8217;s (out of 10) by the authors of The Beers of Wallonia. As the label says, really just a richer version of La Moneuse, using a little caramelized malt and maybe more hops. The malt flavor of the Special is a little darker, roastier, and certainly sweeter, which must somehow distract attention a bit from the earthiness which is so notable in La Moneuse.

<title>Blaugies La Moneuse Saison: $9.35</title>
<description>It has a hardy, semi-dry malt character - fresh, but not overpowering hoppiness, abundant yeasty, fruity flavors and a fairly strong, but pleasant and enticing, mustiness. Among Belgium&#8217;s saisons, La Moneuse sits with Saison Dupont on the opposite end of the spectrum from the quirky, thin, fruity varieties. But La Moneuse is quite distinct from the Dupont, which drinks much colder, hoppier, harder-edged, and has no discernible sweetness. This beer is a warmer, richer, spicier, more vinous, and arguably more approachable saison. Like many saisons, La Moneuse is a little bit over-carbonated, with an aggressive head.

<title>Koningshoeven Tripel: $10.70</title>
<description>Without going into too much mind numbing detail, this brewery from the Netherlands once brewed the &#8220;La Trappe&#8221; label and was an official &#8220;Trappist&#8221; ale. They then changed the brewery around and lost their &#8220;Trappist&#8221; status. The &#8220;La Trappe&#8221; label has since disappeared and the brewery is now brewing under the &#8220;Koningshoeven&#8221; label and has regained it official &#8220;Trappist&#8221; designation.

This outstanding Trappist Tripel pours a little darker than most at a golden with red tints. The aroma is sweet and fruity with plum and pear components with whiffs of banana. The mouth-feel is creamy and the flavor is of plum and spicy coriander.

<description>This perry is the most complex, most well crafted perry I have ever had. Light in body with plenty of carbonation, its flavor is of succulent pear. <title>21st Amendment Watermelon: $1.80</title>
<description>This beer has quite a following and has won the &#8220;Most Popular&#8221; beer award at the Oregon Brewers Festival many times. The color is straw yellow with a yeast haze. The head has the appropriately large billowy character you expect from a good wheat beer. The aroma is grainy wheat and watermelon. The flavor has a crisp Weiss wheat flavor and a melon finish. There is NOTHING artificial tasting, they use only real watermelon and it shows. It is not fruity sweet rather it has a big wheat / malt flavor up front with a mellow watermelon underpinning. As it states on the can &#8220;Yeast inside, agitate before opening.&#8221; This is important (I did it after opening because I did not want to ware the beer) because putting the yeast in with the beer dramatically changes the flavor and mouth-feel. If you do not do this you lose the crispness in the flavor and have a thinner feel.

The great thing about the Viso products is that although they have 100% of 12 vitamins and 2 minerals along with 2 electrolytes, but it does not taste like it. It tastes like a fruit drink that&#8217;s all.
Will is a diet energy drink flavored with natural cranberry and grapefruit essences. That along with the Splenda &#8482; (with none of the funny Splenda &#8482; aftertaste like some soft drinks) makes for a tart fruity drink that is light in body and I find myself drinking too fast. I don&#8217;t just drink Will because of the 100% of 12 vitamins and 300mg of caffeine. I drink it for the flavor AND the 100% of 12 vitamins and 300mg of caffeine.
